suPHP 0.6.2 bug hint

I am not sure if the problem comes from suPHP.org or Debian, but in Debian as well as Ubuntu as of 8.04 LTS aka hardy heron suphp-common has a bug that disables all php sites, logging something like ...

Directory /var/www is not owned by ...

As this debian bug report states, it helps to chown /var/www and eventual intermediate directories from www-data to root, like so:

chown root:root /var/www /var/www/htdocs
